ALL-HCLC MEMBER ROUNDTABLE: The Future of National Monuments Campaigns

HECHO is hosting our next Quarterly HCLC All-Member Roundtable on Wednesday, September 13th from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Currently, HECHO has nearly 100 active HCLC members across New Mexico, Nevada, Colorado, and Arizona and these quarterly events will allow us to connect on a regional level. Many of the issues that we face in our respective states are affecting the entire Southwest and this space will be for us to start connecting the dots and finding ways to support one another.

For this meeting, we will be presenting on the Monumental SHIFT coalition, a coalition rooted in ethnically and racially diverse leadership transforming the traditional creation, conception, funding, and stewardship of national monuments in the United States, of which HECHO has participated in since its inception. We will be joined by Bennae Calac, a member of the coalition and a Tribal Consultant. Bennae will be discussing her work in monuments, the importance of representing cultural history with monuments, and how monuments can benefit diverse communities.

This meeting is a follow-up to our last roundtable where we gave an overview of the Antiquities Act and successful monument campaigns - you can watch a recording of that here.

If you are an HCLC member, you received a registration link in your email associated with your membership. If you did not receive this, please email modesta@hechoonline.org
